UK's Gordon Brown Calls On Europe To Take Hardline On Iran

Gordon Brown last night moved to repair the alliance with President Bush by calling on European leaders to back America's tough stance on Iran.

Echoing the hardline language of the White House, the Prime Minister refused to rule out military strikes if the country continues to defy the international community over its nuclear programme.

Britain's relationship with America has been strained since Mr Brown's debut visit to Washington in July, when he signalled there would be no repeat of the cosy Blair-Bush friendship during his premiership.
