Understanding Ourselves

We are to co-operate with the natural tendencies and act accordingly. There is no need of control and repression. Knowing we are mere witnesses, we must let the body act as an instrument in the hand of the existence and let the divine plan take its course.

The solution to every problem, the magic to all miracles and the fountain of immortality lies in our self. There is nothing real besides the self and nothing remains to be obtained once we obtain that self. This self is the real us to be realized and known. By various layers of ignorance and delusion, we have, for many lives ignored this self that is the source of all beings and the entire existence.

The self is the real us while the body is mere dwelling place for it. With bodies, we are divided but with the self, we are ever connected to the entire existence and the entire creation. The self in other beings is nothing but the same self that is in us. So, to try to hurt others would be like trying to hurt oneself because, one who has understood this realizes the oneness of the entire humanity and creation.

Life is an opportunity to love, to expand our heart to embrace the entire existence altogether. To remain selfish, to be limited in loving only ourselves or our small family is to remain bound. Our ocean of love should have in it every creature because each creature is non-different from us. The other is only reflection of our own self. Our heart should expand so much that other souls can find their home in it. They should be able to rejoice and live in it like the waves merge into the ocean.

To remain limited to people and things is to be incomplete. To lose ourselves and embrace the infinite as one is true liberation. A true man must have vast affection of many, not in terms of popularity and fame but in terms of devotion and oneness. This should be the reflection of his oneness with the infinite self/the Atman. Souls like Krishna do not belong to one person, they cannot be possessed by one person. These souls arouse the infinite desire in each one of us to merge into the Infinite. They reflect the oneness that we just hear or read about once in a while.

There's nothing worthwhile in life than seeking the truth of our existence for no reason. Cutting out the false values and building upon the truth of the existence is what enlightenment is all about. We must so eliminate all the falsities of our life that only the truth remains. The reservoir of truth is in each of us but it is muddled by desires, lust, anger, greed, ignorance and several other enemies of mankind. These components that arise from desires muddle the neatness of the mirror of consciousness thus stopping the flow of true knowledge and wisdom.

We are in an age of materialism and tremendous sensualism. We want the best of all that material world has to offer including sense pleasures. Either, we go after it blindly breaking all the norms like a person who is too attached or with an aversion to it, we repress our deep down emotions. Both of these components create an imbalance in life. Both attachments and aversions remain in the senses and tie us to the darker side of life. We thus have a contradictory life, one that appears to people and the other that is in the dark. We are afraid what will happen if people know it all about us. One of these days, the repressed emotions give away like a volcano unable to hold themselves.

It is unnecessary and unnatural to repress the natural tendencies. We are to co-operate with the natural tendencies and act accordingly. There is no need of control and repression. Knowing we are mere witnesses, we must let the body act as an instrument in the hand of the existence and let the divine plan take its course. But, we delay, we regret, we analyze and do not follow the little voice inside us. We as a guard become an obstacle to the natural thought process that is occuring inside our system. We try to get our ego in the way. This is the major reason of all major problems and miseries of life.
