US Airways Flight 787 Diverted Over 'Suspicious' Behavior

UPDATE, 2:20pm: An FB spokesman confirms that the plane was met by state, local and federal officers upon landing in Bangor, the Associated Press reports.

UPDATE, 1:45pm: A source told the Associated Press that the cause of the diversion was that an unidentified female French passenger announced that she had a surgically-implanted device.

A CNN national desk manager just tweeted the following:

Doctors on board examined the woman but found no evidence of wounds or scars that would indicate she had such a device implanted, according to CBS Atlanta.

An official told the Associated Press that the woman is in custody and confirmed that she is French and was born in Cameroon. Another official told the AP that the passenger appeared to be mentally unstable.

PREVIOUSLY: A US Airways flight from Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport to Charlotte Douglas International was diverted on Tuesday over a passenger's "suspicious" behavior.

The flight was diverted to Bangor, Maine, according to an airline spokesman, and was met by authorities upon landing. "The TSA is aware of reports that a passenger exhibited suspicious behavior" on the flight, the spokesman said. The flight landed without incident and appears to still be in Bangor.

Airline spokesman Andrew Christie told the Associated Press that the Boeing 767 has 179 passengers and nine crew members on board and was diverted around noon to Bangor.

US Airways flight 787 (CDG-CLT) has landed safely in Bangor (BGR). TSA is aware of reports of a passenger who exhibited suspicious behavior during flight. Out of an abundance of caution the flight was diverted to BGR where it was met by law enforcement.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command confirmed to CNN that two F-15 fighter jets were dispatched to escort the jet safely to Bangor.
