In an effort to fill the thousands of jobs they currently have available, and to ensure they are attracting the best and brightest talent, America's leading employers are teaming up to hire at least 50,000 veterans and military spouses.

Launched by Veteran Recruiting, in support of the White House Joining Forces initiative, the VetFriendly 50,000 Jobs Challenge will help to connect veterans and military spouses with employers who value and appreciate the skills and talents they bring to the workforce.

32 leading employers from a wide range of industries have already stepped up to join the challenge;
AECOM, Aetna, Airgas, Ally, Ball Corporation, Citi, Comerica Bank, Convergys, CVS Caremark, Duke Energy, Engility Corporation, Enterprise Holdings, Exelon, Graybar, Horizon Coach Lines, Hormel Foods, Nash Finch, Office Depot, Penske, Pfizer, Philips, Safeway, Sears Holdings, Spectra Energy, Staples, TeleTech, U.S Treasury, United Health Group, Verizon, Waste Management, Western & Southern Life, and Xerox.

To make it easy for the employers, veterans, and military spouses to connect, Veteran Recruiting is hosting monthly virtual career fairs, and since September 2011, more than 34,000 have been hired. Employers are required to report to Veteran Recruiting the total number of veterans and military spouses they have hired each quarter, and Veteran Recruiting then reports the collective number to the White House. Since the launch of the VetFriendly Challenge in May, more than 7,000 have already been hired.

Employers who support the challenge receive a signed pledge certificate, and a VetFriendly logo that they can advertise on their website and all marketing materials
