WATCH: The Madagascar Institute: 'Caution, This May Kill You'

A trio of friends, Chris Hacket, Ryan O' Connor and Eric Singer founded The Madagascar Institute in 1998. "The idea was to stop doing stuff virtually, and learn to do it with our hands," Hackett says. Rusty steel, welding kits, and half built machines are just a few of the items that take over every corner of their Brooklyn townhouse. Besides building large-scale sculptures and mad machines that carry warning labels such as "Caution: This May Kill You," the members are also into guerrilla events. They have broken into dance at the steps of the New York Public Library and even held recreations of historical battles in the a pond at Prospect Park. Call them crazy or just plain curious, but the Madagascar Institute team are as industrious as they come, creating experiences that will tap into your inner (pyromaniacal) child.
