The hangouts of accomplished artists are hard to find. Traditionally, artists end-up at cafes, bars and invitation only artist salon's. One of the more famous, or infamous, artist hangouts was Warhol"s "The Factory" in NYC where action was non-stop for all types of art aficionados. It is newsworthy that there is a similar gathering place for artists developing in the Palm Springs, CA area called Rebecca Fine Art Gallery (RFA). RFA holds frequent private and public artist events and exhibitions, including curated exhibitions with private art collections and museum quality works for sale. RFA established national and international artists, most of whom have enjoyed NYC and LA art careers dating back five decades, or more. During a recent RFA event, stimulating conversations were going on between recording artists, photographers, film producers and directors, writers, artist models, painters & sculptors, art dealers and collectors. It was awesome!
It takes someone with long experience inside the art world to attract such artists, their patrons and host popular arts events. Rebecca Pikus is such a person, a woman deeply rooted in the arts in Palm Springs, LA and NYC. Rebecca and her husband, Argentinian born artist Mario Pikus, are the straws that stir this stimulating culture mix.
Rebecca's advocacy of the arts and artists is demonstrated by her enlisting friends from Palm Springs, NYC, Dallas and elsewhere, to help establish a large complex of art galleries surrounding RFA. These galleries offer art patrons a wider range of art and pricing than her own high-end avant-garde gallery. What most of the growing number of art galleries (currently seventeen) have in common is just what painters and sculptors look for to exhibit their art - well located large gallery space with high ceilings, good lighting and owners / operators. Rebecca's vision and passion for developing RFA, and the surrounding art complex, is fully shared by the amiable and talented RFA Director / Curator Maris Kazaks. Mr. Kazaks is from Europe and his fluency in five languages contributes to the RFA international arts atmosphere.
RFA is now hosting a large exhibition "Visually Speaking: Color & Light", which runs through December 31, 2016. This unique exhibition, guest curated with Joe Novak, contains works by 50 artists including examples of the iconic art of Robert Rauschenberg, Salvador Dali, Lyonel Feiniger and Mark Tobey. Among the other noted artists in the show are Peter Busa, August Muth, James Turrell, Nathan Slate Joseph, Mario Pikus, Robert Tahar and Joe Novak. Future exhibitions will continue to showcase a full range of Contemporary and Modern Art, from Abstract Expressionism, Color Field Painting, Trancendentalism and The New York School of Artists.
