Ever wondered what was going on outside? Having trouble finding family and friends because they're all "online"? The Internet is a force that seems to be taking over our lives, but what exactly is everyone doing? And is it possible we're all missing out on "real life"? This was the question asked by Diane Millhouse, TV personality, product host, and stay-at-home dog owner.
The Internet fad had perplexed her for years: Just what and where was this infinite "web" everyone was talking about? After signing online, Diane would peruse the 4-5 websites she frequented, then hit a wall. What else was there to do? Where should she "go" next? Bored and at an impasse, Diane would sign off.
Confused as to what all the hype was about, she wondered how others managed to get so invested. After all, just look at a blooming plant on your windowsill or open a new homemade stained glass kit, and you'd instantly be 100 times more engaged than with anything you could do online.
At least, that was Diane's experience. And she had the pinch pot collection to prove it.
This Cyber Monday, instead of hunting for discounted Uggs inside a computer screen, we invite you to join Diane's cause and say "F the Internet." Go outside, meet a friend for racquetball, visit your grandmother at her old folks home or, if she's dead, make that trek out to the cemetery.
After all, we're all going to end up there someday. And last I checked, no one wanted a tombstone that says "Got great Cyber deal, died alone."
