It's not a stretch to say that The Roots has earned and received PostBourgie's highly coveted endorsement, an honor reserved for luminaries such as Ira Glass, Dikembe Mutombo, Wyatt Cenac and Tracey Heggins.

But if Questlove really thought it would've been a good idea to play Thomas Dolby's "She Blinded Me With Science" as Katie Holmes made her way to the stage on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," it's understandable why he now must clear every song with at least three NBC executives.

Of course, his taste in crushes is impeccable and beyond reproach and Undun deserves your full attention.

Now get yourself in the holiday mood with these weekend homework assignments:

1. The day after Mumia Abu-Jamal learned that he would no longer face the death penalty, writer dream hampton posted an interview - conducted through a series of letters - with Abu-Jamal that arrived a week before the announcement. The former Black Panther, sentenced to death in '82 for the killing of a Philadelphia police officer, still faces life in prison.

2. A new analysis by the Environmental Integrity Project has found that Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky are the top pollution-producing states in the nation.

3. Friend of The Blog, Tedra Osell -- the former Bitch Ph.D -- made her long-awaited return to blogging over at Crooked Timber earlier this week. The blogosphere is better off for having her in it.

4. In a post it'd be great for someone to peel off the internet and silkscreen onto a tracksuit, BlogHer's avflox explains how most cold approaches by amorous passersby feel like street harassment to the lone woman-traveler.

5. PB extended fam member Tatyana Fazlalizadeh has reopened her Etsy shop, just in time for the holidays. Buy some of her amazing, important artwork before she's wildly famous and you can no longer afford it unless you are wildly wealthy.

6. The Restaurant Opportunities Center released its first ever dining guide. The guide measures how workers in the most popular American restaurants are treated- their wages, whether the restaurant provides paid sick days, advancement, etc. At the Washington, D.C., release, Busboys and Poets owner Andy Shallal noted that while people care immensely about where their food comes from, most are far less concerned with how the people making it fare.

7. Breaking: television execs don't make shows women want to watch because they are actually pretty sexist.

8. The folks at "Awkward Black Girl" pissed some folks off with the use of the word "tranny" in their latest episode; "ABG" creators issue an apologyless apology in response.

9. GOOD unearths this gem of Ice Cube, composer of the hip-hop classic "We Had to Tear This Mothafucka Up," leading viewers on an architectural tour of his hometown.

10. Questlove picks his five favorite hip-hop concept albums for Slate.

11. College athletes are suing the NCAA, claiming it "been negligent regarding awareness and treatment of brain injuries to athletes."

12. And finally, The American Prospect has relaunched its podcast. You should listen. It's good stuff.

Let's do it again next weekend. Happy reading.
