As traditions go, Mother's Day ranks right up there as a holiday with myriad food traditions. In my house, it was breakfast in bed for Mom, flowers picked from the garden in a little vase on a wicker tray and a pink cloth napkin. The joy of the first time the kids made scrambled eggs without adult supervision is not soon forgotten. We asked our Foodily Tastemakers for their memories of mom and plans for their Mother's Day meals.

Cat Cora told us, "There is no end to a woman's warmth." Her delicious breakfast filled with fruit is simple, elegant and family friendly! She'll celebrate this Mother's Day with the launch of her new Bravo series Around the World in 80 Plates and these delectable dishes:

  • Lemon Pecan Pancakes
  • Kiwi Berries Parfait with Toasted Coconut
  • Tropical Fruit Tart

For Cristina Ferrari, Mother's Day is steeped in tradition and celebration of Mom. On her table filled with pink roses and china, you'll find:

  • Pasta Carbonara with Fresh Spring Englis Peas
  • Roasted Shrimp with White Beans and Arugula
  • Ice Bowl Filled with Assorted Sorbet (we want to see your pictures of this one!)

"Some of the greatest memories I carry with me to this day is cooking with my mother in the kitchen and sitting down as a family to enjoy a great meal and to connect. There was always music, storytelling, discussions and laughter, until my sister and I had to do the dishes! My mother's DNA is engrained in my soul. All that is good, decent & loving in me comes from her. I hope I have passed that on to my children. I love my mom and I love being a mom!!!" -Cristina

Lisa McRee is all about the classic dishes for a breakfast celebration, minus the fat and calories. "It's not that I haven't loved every Color Me Mine coffee mug/frame/vase/teapot/piggy bank/jewelry box my kids made me over the years.... But now that they're old enough to cook, Mother's Day Eggs Benedict-ish is all I need.... well, that and coffee... in the Color Me Mine mug.... "
