Arianna appeared on "Charlie Rose" Tuesday to discuss how to live a fulfilling life.

She described the moment when she began to question the pace of her own life: when she collapsed from exhaustion in 2007, and woke up in a pool of her own blood.

"By the conventional two metrics of success, money and power, I was successful," she recalled. "By any sane definition, I was not."

The experience made her realize that the world needed a new way to measure a life well-lived -- something she explains in her new book, "Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder."

"If we define ourselves in terms of our jobs, however magnificent -- in terms of our success, however great -- we are shrinking down to something that's not going to be ultimately fulfilling," Arianna explained. "And that's where the Third Metric comes in."

"Working 24/7 is a problem. It's not something to congratulate people for," she added.
