Dualism Path (in response to Barbara Smith’s Light Wait) Pacific Standard Time, Black Box 2012 (Photos: Calvin Lee) Dualism Path was a site-‐specific response to Light Wait, a 1976 installation by Barbara T. Smith. I was invited by artist Liz Glynn to perform in her Black Box project as part of Pacific Standard Time’s Performance Week. As Barbara was present and speaking about her work that night, I re-‐configured the social space and broke down the wall of shipping pallets dividing the bar and staged performance area, causing the audience to reconfigure their movements and creating a new path through the venue.

This one leans more towards the figurative. I’m always striving to bridge the gap between the architectural and the figurative. Against my better judgment, I always return to symmetry. Here it works well. Imagine two identical figures hovering over a suggestive idol. A dirty mind is a terribly thing to waste. This work is titled Wrinkle Queen.
