Why Intention Makes a Difference in Your Life

We all strive to be a better version of ourselves each day -- whether it is to achieve a healthier weight, be better parents or make greener choices -- but how many of us actually fulfill our intents each day? We fail for many reasons: lack of time, lack of commitment and even lack of accountability. It is easy to let our intents slip through the cracks when no one is watching.

Intent.com, founded in 2008 by Mallika Chopra, is a social network based around our daily intentions. Mallika's goal was to create a community where members can share their dreams and aspirations, as well as receive support from others to help them turn those intentions into tangible actions. After all, every action starts with an intention. When we share an intention with others, we make ourselves feel more accountable for the missions we want to complete. When we get clear on what our intention is and we state it to others, then we are more likely to take the initiative to make our aspiration come true.

Social media and social connections have the power to change our lives. Statistical research shows that a person with a happy friend is 15% more likely to be happy; a person with a happy friend of a friend is 10% more likely to be happy, and a person with a happy friend of a friend of a friend is 6% more likely to be happy. At Intent.com, everyone in the community is interested in helping others fulfill their positive intentions -- whether it is to run a marathon or to help end world hunger. And what better way to find the inspiration you need to make your dreams a reality than to connect with other people interested in fulfilling their positive intentions too?

Each day we will feature an Intent by a member of our community, who is looking to make a positive change in their lives or lives of others. We hope this will inspire you to embark on your own journey of self-improvement.
