Does this look like a healthy food you recognize or a science experiment? These are the ingredients in Kellogg's Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts. Scary, don't you think?

If you have ever wondered why labels will say "partially hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oil" it is because they might use whatever oil is cheapest that week. You may have noticed this in other products where the label will say something like, "contains soybean, cottonseed and/or palm kernel oil." They can't reprint labels every week, so this allows them to use whichever is the cheapest oil that week without reprinting labels. The food industry is in it to make a profit, not to improve your health.

Awareness is the first step in getting healthy. Be aware that the food industry wants to get you addicted to cheap, highly palatable food that has little or no nutritional value. This is simply so they will make a profit. They can sell you cheap, imitation food that keeps you coming back for more and they win. We lose.

I highly recommend Dr. David Kessler's book, The End of Overeating, as a start to educate yourself as to what is happening. It's an excellent look at what the foods we are exposed to constantly can do to our minds and bodies.

Be aware and be healthy.
