NYC Public School Rising in Kohl's Contest

The national retailer Kohl's will give out $10 million to 20 schools across the US that get the most votes in its online contest. Oddly, there are no public schools in the top 20 so far. One that is getting close is a high school in NYC that primarily serves African American and Latino communities - East Side Community High.

East Side Community High is located at 1st avenue and 11th street. I have been there working with the kids on several occassions - a great school with a hands-on curriculum. Strong track record in getting kids to college who otherwise would fall by the wayside.
