In honor of DoSomething.org's new membership launch, Harry Shum Jr. recently surprised Jennifer Ascensio at her home in Los Angeles, and together they visited an elderly home to share their tech know-how with local seniors. This is her account of the experience.

My experience with Do Something's Harry Shum Jr. surprise was amazing! It was undoubtedly the BEST day of my LIFE.

I was waiting for a UPS guy because DoSomething.org told me I was going to get a package delivered. My door rang and my aunt answered it. I heard "Is Jennifer home?" from the one and only Harry Shum Jr. from Glee. I came to the door (I was still in my PJ's) and saw a whole bunch of people scream "SURPRISE!"

I was extremely shocked! All that came out of my mouth was "OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH, thank you so much!" It was WAY better than a package.

The whole group told me that they wanted to take me somewhere. In the car, I got to ask Harry some questions about what it's like on Glee. Harry asked me what I like about the TV show and I was speechless. Oh, and I hugged him so many times.

We finally arrived at Leffingwell Manor Senior Citizen Center to teach the residents how to use Facebook. The elderly people I met were so sweet. We set up Facebook accounts and helped them through the process of posting their basic information and contacting friends and relatives.

One lady named Betty was an expert at typing and using the computer. I was very surprised because she's 91 years old. Way to go, Betty!

At the end of the day, we all took some pictures, and I got to make a video with Harry that I plan to post on Facebook and YouTube. The day overall was just awesome-sauce! Thank you so much to everyone who made it possible. All it takes is the will to do something about anything. :)
