Get Mad as Hell About Citizens United and Register to Vote

Sadly, the ads that the billionaires are buying work. Otherwise they wouldn't invest. And be clear, that's what this is. An investment, and billionaires know it's a wise investment. So imagine the return they expect on their massive investment in buying a president.

We learned yesterday that Republican SuperPACs will spend one billion dollars this election. That's on top of what Romney and the RNC were already going to spend. Billions of dollars from a handful of billionaires. With one goal: to buy an election. All thanks to the Supreme Court decision in Citizens United.

This is sick. It is a perversion of American democracy. And, sadly, the ads that the billionaires are buying work. Otherwise they wouldn't invest. And be clear, that's what this is. An investment, and billionaires know it's a wise investment. So imagine the return they expect on their massive investment in buying a president.

This doesn't just make me upset, it makes me mad as hell. We cannot just sit back and take it, people! This is our country.

This is the place where anybody -- like an African American kid raised by a single mom -- can be president.

It's the place where democracy is supposed to be the great equalizer, where your vote is worth just as much as Donald Trump's.

But this poisonous Citizens United decision is killing our nation and everything it stands for.
It is an invasive cancer that is spreading, and the idea that is America is going to die unless we do something to stop it.

So, first, this is a call to action: get mad enough to register to vote. Do it now.

It's easy and our nation needs you: the more people who vote, the more the nation will be healed.

Go to gottavote.org and register. Right now.

Second, we must push for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. President Obama wants to do it. He won't be able to get the two-thirds of the senate necessary to ratify an amendment, so he'll have to take it to the people. We'll need state level constitutional conventions to take our nation back. It's a huge, unprecedented undertaking, but it is worth it.

Men and women have served and died to protect American democracy, but their sacrifice will be for naught if that democracy dies from the poison the Supreme Court has injected into our political organs.

We must save the country. It starts with you.
