For a long time it was snake bites. After that it was death by drowning. In between I defaulted to various embarrassing social scenarios.
Our mind can create all types of fears... some of them real, others not so much.
When it comes to my new career, I have been fearful from the start.
A few years back I decided to take the plunge, throw social norms to the wind and left my long-time career as a journalist.
The pay wasn't great so no loss there. But it was goodbye to my cushy pension and guaranteed insurance. Hello uncertainty.
My identity was self-stripped and even now, it's hard to process that I no longer work in traditional media.
Now I am an entrepreneur. I call the shots, and let me tell you, it's not just scary, it's Netflix-is-down-and-I'm-mid-season scary.
I decided to try out a mastermind business group last year. By the end of the day I knew I wanted more.

Accountable you say? Yes.
Don't cry out that you're an adult and that accountability is a skill you've already mastered.
Adults need accountability too.
That's my biggest gain from being part of a mastermind. I had to stop talking about my goals, dreams and ideal life and do something about it-there were others watching now.

We even got paired up and were asked to do weekly accountability calls. My accountability partner's name is Bob.
This time last year, I didn't even know he existed. Now I find myself constantly asking the question, "What am I going to tell Bob?!" Even when I just want to lay in my sweatpants and eat potato chips all night, there he is... his floating head blocking my t.v., giving me a facial expression that says, "Is this helping?"

I'm not annoyed at Bob. In fact, I'm glad he's around. I wish I would have known sooner how important accountability is and should be to each and every entrepreneur out there.
Whether it's telling a few friends what you intend to do or joining a mastermind yourself, find your Bob.
Push forward. Make every day worthwhile.
