Can Hillary Control Her Supporters?

I think Hillary Clinton is able and capable person.

She may one day become the president. I would not have an issue with that.

Lately, I have had a couple of social network interactions with folks who are very intent on seeing Hillary elected in 2016. That is three years away -- right? It is almost to the point of brow-beating that if you won't commit to somehow supporting Hillary, you are evil.

Here's the thing -- today we have a pretty able and capable person running the show, Barack Obama. There are a lot of things going on right now that cannot wait until 2016. The president needs help now.

Put into the mix that Hillary is staying, wisely, on the sidelines. She is allowing Barack Obama to be the president by not bigfooting him. If she announced she was running now it would adversely affect both her campaign and President Obama's second term.

If anything, Hillary supporters are working against her by being so vociferous in their support now. If we have to listen to this for the next three years, the country may be asking itself does it want the leader of a cult in charge?

The electorate may look at other candidates, if only because of the intensity of Hillary's supporters. The in-your-face attempts to sway voters now will work against the Clintons in 2016. It may ironically engender resentment that a outside candidate could use to defeat Hillary. If Hillary's supporters are starting now, we will have a major case of Clinton fatigue before the first primaries.

So if you want Hillary in 2016, that is great; but we can enjoy the moment. We have elected a solid president. Let's see him get stuff done.

President Barack Obama deserves the spotlight.

2016 will get here soon enough, relax and enjoy the ride.
