Happy National Coming Out Day! People often ask me whether we really need NCOD anymore -- after all, virtually everyone knows someone openly gay in their family, neighborhood, workplace, or (at least) favorite talk show or sitcom. But that just shows that it's time for NCOD 2.0: A day where we don't simply announce that we're gay, but share our stories and remind ourselves of the importance of doing so on a regular basis.
Sharing our stories is especially important amidst the four marriage ballot initiatives happening in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington. And that brings me to the second of the nine short videos I'll be posting here in the weeks leading up to the election, this one on "Why Marriage? (Why Not Civil Unions?):
