A-Sides With Jon Chattman: Save Your Soul With The Jack Moves; Wild Adriatic Debut 'Strange' New Music

The Jack Moves are a soul-pop group out of New Jersey that are too cool for school. The cool kids, founded by Zee Desmondes and Teddy Powell, are an emerging neo-soul act that evoke sort of a modern Jamiroquai vibe.

"She want neo-soul, this hip-hop is old
She don't want no rock'n'roll"
- The Roots, "The Seed 2.0."

The Jack Moves are a soul-pop group out of New Jersey that are too cool for school. I say that since, after all, I filmed their A-Sides session within a classroom at the Music Conservatory of Westchester in White Plains, New York. The cool kids, founded by Zee Desmondes and Teddy Powell, are an emerging neo-soul act that evoke sort of a modern Jamiroquai vibe. Music is subjective, so feel free to yell at me for that comparison. In any event, watch the band perform below and take part in a brief chat as well.

Interview:

Never Enough of Wild Adriatic
It's not every day an awesome band asks you to debut its new song on your column, but here we are. Wild Adriatic (Travis Gray, Rich Derbyshire, and Mateo Vosganian) have continued giving much-needed soul-infused rock to the world for over four years now. On March 17, they'll release Never Enough, which they self-produced and are releasing on their own, as the follow-up to the Queensbury, New York, natives' full-length album Big Suspicious, which came out last year. This will be the third EP WA have put out following The Lion in 2011 and Lock & Key a year later.

The band's latest will feature five songs, including a killer cover of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine." But enough about them; let's talk about me! Um, well, me sharing their new single, anyway. Click here to hear (see what I did there?) the premiere (stop rhyming) of "Strange Persuasions." Oh, and catch the band on the road all spring starting in Stratton, Vermont, on March 28. These guys are real road warriors, playing 175 dates in over 10 countries last year.

A-Sides "Delve Into Twelve" Countdown
Each week A-Sides unleashes its top 12 tracks of the week AKA the "Delve Into Twelve" based on the following contributing factors: songs I'm playing out that particular week no matter when they were released (think overlooked songs, unreleased tracks, and old favorites), songs various publicists are trying to get me to listen to that I did and dug a bunch, posts and trends I've noticed on my friends' Facebook walls, and, most importantly:

12. "Life Under Water" (LW-12) - Flagship
11. "Run" (debut) - Coin
10. "Elastic Heart" (LW-10) - Sia
9. "Black Soap" (LW-8) - Ex Cops
8. "No Cities to Love" (LW-9) - Sleater-Kinney
7. "Karaoke" (LW-2) - Smallpools

About A-Sides With Jon Chattman:
Jon Chattman's music series features celebrities and artists (established or not) from all genres of music performing a track and discussing what it means to them. This informal series focuses on the artist making art in a low-threatening, extremely informal (sometime humorous) way. No bells, no whistles, just the music performed in a random, low-key setting followed by an unrehearsed chat. In an industry where everything often gets overblown and overmanufactured, Jon strives for a refreshing change. Artists have included fun., Charli XCX, Imagine Dragons, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Gary Clark Jr., American Authors, Echosmith, and many, many more!
