If you've seen any of the ads for the new film Drive starring Ryan Gosling as a nameless stunt driver who moonlights as a wheelman for hire, you'd probably think Drive is a darker, more artsy installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise, with accomplished actors like Albert Brooks, Bryan Cranston, Carey Mulligan, and Ron Perlman juicing the scenes between car chases. And if you watch Drive's exhilarating opening scene as the driver (Gosling) plays cat-and-mouse with the police through the streets of downtown Los Angeles, you'd be filled with excitement that the ads were right and that you're in for a smart, edgy action movie for adults.

You'd think that. Sadly, you'd be wrong.
