Solo travel is one of the most transformative experiences we can plan in life. It leads us to new truths, helps form a resilient sense of self and can be wildly fulfilling.

For my first solo voyage, I traveled to Florence for a summer of learning Italian, taking cooking classes and immersing myself in local culture. It was a true escape from my life as I knew it. And it whet my appetite for many more solo jaunts in the future.

During trips to places as varied as Nicaragua and Peru to Germany and Spain, I picked up techniques that make traveling alone go smoothly.

And in this video, I'll talk about ways to take the edge off of these kinds of travels -- ways to set yourself up with "social-ins." Essentially, these tips will help turn your solo travel experience into one full of new relationships forged.
