Fall Rocks - 7 Ways to Capture a Rock n' Roll Vibe Now

I want a home filled with music.

My boys play in a three piece band called The Negotiators. Our living room has become their de facto music conservatory. Music envelops my life. At work, my studio is awash with a daily broadcast of Sirius XM tuned to Alt Nation or Classic Vinyl. Music fuels my creative process and inspires everything from my designs to my wardrobe.

As the seasons change, my inspiration turns to the rocknrolla brood -- much like fall, rocker chic is all about accessorizing. This week I am paying tribute to my favorite music and style icons with a guide to fall pieces dedicated to rock n' roll.

Nobody does effortless and bold quite like Rock Stars. That devil may care brand of je ne sais quoi charisma coupled with a liberal use of accessories results in many a signature look. A flourish of sequins, an embellished cravat, statement rings, stacks on stacks of layered necklaces...more is more and bizarre is de rigueur in the world of rock.

I love the brash irreverence of rock n' roll fashion. Rock n' Roll is Kurt Cobain shredding in drag.. Keith Richards donning gypsy pirate scarves in every color of the rainbow..The Ramones crooning in high contrast black and white. Jimi Hendrix in velvet -- and leather for days.

Music as a culture embraces reinvention and self expression with abandon. My philosophy for design is entrenched in the same philosophy -- taking risks. I want to design spaces that tell a story through color, texture and pattern.

The right accessory instantly updates a look, whether bringing new life to lived in favorites or elevating the mood of a room. My must haves for the season? Daring accents with a strong point of view and edgy appeal. Here are my 7 tips for accessorizing like a rock star this fall...
