To the teens reading this who typically categorize vegetables as "gross," "uneatable" and "Ew, a healthy food?" I get it. Let's be honest here: veggies have a pretty terrible rep.

Okay, I'm gonna be that kid and say it: I love vegetables. Honestly, I've always been a pretty picky eater (I'm pretty much a nightmare when it comes to ordering main courses in restaurants), but one food group I know I can always depend on is vegetables.

Whenever I go to birthday parties, I get embarrassingly excited when I see a vegetable platter on the food table. I constantly fill myself up with carrots, broccoli, celery, cucumbers and lettuce. I'm proud to say it: I'm a veggie-lover, and despite the preconceptions you've had about vegetables before, I think you can learn to be a veggie-lover too!

Here are the facts: We need five to six servings of vegetables a day, and 9 out of 10 of us do not meet that requirement. That's exactly what Birds Eye hopes to change. With their new "Step Up To The Plate" campaign, Birds Eye is showing exactly how cool AND tasty vegetables can be. They are even encouraging teens to get into the kitchen and try these new fun veggie recipes for themselves. C'mon, attempting to cook these recipes with your friends the next time you hang out definitely sounds like a pretty hilarious/fun endeavor. As someone who really wants to start cooking a whole lot more, using these new recipes is both entertaining and practical.

This year, Birds Eye and Disney teamed up together to really inspire kids to eat their veggies -- and that's where I come in! To me, the coolest part about the Veggin' In LA with Laura Marano Sweepstakes (That's me, by the way!) is that we get to see a Birds Eye chef in action, as he shows us directly how to do these cool, veggie-filled recipes!

I know some of you may be convinced that vegetables aren't for you, but I assure you that they can be (and they are literally a very necessary part of our daily diet). All you have to do is try some of these delicious recipes, and who knows? You might become a veggie-lover yourself!
