Kindness ONE: In India, an Experience That Surpasses the Taj Mahal

A few hours riding from the Taj Mahal is the city of Lucknow. It was here that I bumped into a man on his way to a rural village. I didn't have anywhere to stay and he offered me free gas when I got to his village. I was about to be in for quite a shock.

"We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls"-- Anais Nin
My travels across the globe relying on the kindness of strangers with my trusted bike Kindness ONE® never cease to amaze me. I travelled from Delhi to Agra and visited the famous Taj Mahal. This was definitely a highlight of the trip but better things were just around the corner.

A few hours riding from the Taj Mahal is the city of Lucknow. It was here that I bumped into a man on his way to a rural village. I didn't have anywhere to stay and he offered me free gas when I got to his village 45 minutes away, which always comes in handy!

The village was in a very remote part of India and I was about to be in for quite a shock. Unbeknownst to me he had called his family and when we arrived in Kindness ONE ® the whole village came out to celebrate my arrival. There were literally hundreds of people singing and dancing as I drove up through the dirt tracks. The feeling coursing through my veins was one of feeling overwhelmed. Some of these people had never seen a foreigner before and I am pretty certain they had never seen a yellow bike with a side car.

As the dancing and singing died down, I was taken on a tour of the village and along came the hundreds of people following my every move. I met the cows, the holy men and the farmers. The experience at the village was extremely moving and I felt a great amount of love directed at me from the villagers.

I ended up staying the night in the elders house and in the morning my new friend was true to his word and filled up Kindness ONE ® and I was off on another adventure...

I am currently on a journey that is powered by the kindness of strangers. With no money, no credit cards, no gas and no place to stay, I am circling the globe on a bright yellow, vintage motorcycle with a sidecar, Kindness ONE® (Sort of like Air Force One, but kinder).
