Jack the Radio is teaming up with Raleigh's Trophy Brewing Company for a "Pretty Money" release party to celebrate the fifth year-plus anniversary of Jack the Radio's debut album of the same name.
The indie, roots rockers' free event is set for 6 to 10 p.m. at Trophy on Maywood, 656 Maywood Ave., on Thursday, Feb. 2.
The band is releasing a new music video shot with FuckBullshitCreateTruth and the brewery is releasing the "Pretty Money" Baltic Porter brew.
According to the event Facebook page, "this Baltic Porter displays a velvety mouthfeel with rich chocolate overtones and notes of coffee and hard caramel candies on the finish. Brewed with Durham malted Munich Light Malt and our house lager yeast."
Band co-founder George Hage describes the "Pretty Money" video as a collection of footage inspired by old field recordings of individuals connected by the music.
Jack the Radio is composed of Hage on electric guitar and co-founder A.C. Hill on a weathered acoustic, along with multi-instrumentalist Danny Johnson, bassist Chris Sayles, drummer Jamison Sayles.
The band originally released its full-length debut, "Pretty Money" in early 2011, their sophomore effort "Lowcountry" with the addition of bassist Chris Sayles in 2012 and, most recently, "Badlands" in October 2015.
In 2014, the band worked its way to the upper-tier of Triangle bands, playing some of the area's biggest stages with acts, including Hall & Oates at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre, George Thorogood at Memorial Auditorium and the Cold War Kids at Red Hat Amphitheatre, according to the band website.
