Oct. 19 is Spirit Day, that wonderful fall day where gays and their allies wear purple to "speak out against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth," according to GLAAD. Are you wearing purple today? Well, allow me to tell you where that purpleness comes from, historically!
In this edition of Weeklings!, I explore the history of purple in LGBT culture and give you a few tips for pulling the color off. Keep in mind: It's not always pretty, and I'm almost always wrong.
You can find previous Weeklings! episodes here.
