One Nice, Simple Way to Find Your Center

We new age, mystic types are always going on about becoming centered or feeling centered. Anyone who is under the influence of anxiety, fear, and depression will tell us that this is an impossible task - this Feeling Centered business. However, even if you have not attained perfect inner harmony, there is something to be gained from finding out what is going on with you at your core.

This is a simple meditation and visualization exercise that can help you start becoming more aware of what is going on inside you.

Take a moment to close your eyes and use your inner senses to visualize your whole self as a sphere of projecting energy. This sphere of your self has a center. You might want to visualize this center around your navel area. Keeping your eyes closed, sense what your center looks like. What shape is it? What is in there? Do you sense colors, shapes, vibrations, sounds perhaps? Fully explore your center.

If you are having trouble sensing this center part of you, do not worry. Try asking it questions if you are stuck. Ask it to show itself. If you cannot see it in your inner eye, ask it to tell you about itself. Then allow words and images and sounds to come through. Don't edit or push. Let it be a simple, flowing sort of conversation.

Trust what you get. If you see colors, or knots, or breakage, these all have a meaning. The words or sounds you might get convey meaning.

Take it another step if you can. Once you get an idea of what might be going on in your core self, superimpose a visualization of a bright, clear, calm globe of energy in the middle of you. Ask yourself to answer these questions: How far away am I from this picture? What can I do to have this as my day to day inner reality? Again, don't edit or push, but allow yourself to get thoughts, ideas, feelings about this.

The more you try, the easier it gets. Use your intuition to make it even more personally effective by adding your own details and ideas.
