Anxiety, we all have it and some more than others.

A full-blown anxiety or panic attack can feel paralyzing and life threatening. You feel like you're outside our body, confused or spacey. It feels hard to breath and you have a strong sensation of doom, like you're going to die even though you may be home safely reading a book in your bed.

On the lighter end of the anxiety spectrum you may feel afraid and very vulnerable with "what if I fail?" thoughts crossing your mind. Before giving a speech on stage, you think you can't remember anything, with an upset stomach, heart racing and flushed face.

Anxiety is a mind-body connection, the mind having thoughts and the body reacting with hormonal releases to create the feelings we have. The body can have an addiction to stress and anxiety and trigger the mind to create the thoughts that will produce the stress mechanism so you can feel anxious and stressed.

Most people have been taught not to feel; that your feelings are less valuable than your brains.

You are taught to think about everything and deny your feeling, to stop being emotional or too sensitive and that everything outside of you is more important than what is inside. This leaves you feeling broken and not good enough. No wonder you are anxious.

Those conclusions are so wrong and your body is trying to wake you up to pay attention to it and set you free. Yet, if you can't wake up gently, your body is waking you up with anxiety, depression, disease or Mac Truck accidents.

When you can't love and accept yourself in all your expressions from happiness to depression you put yourself in stress (fight or flight mode.) The brain signals "danger, danger, watch out, you are not safe in the tribe." If you feel you aren't perfect, good enough or worthy, you imagine that you can be abandoned so you decide to get busy fixing your broken self or covering up what's not right, sometimes with addictions and distractions. Think, think, think, do, do, do....

The healthy path is to become present, feel what your body is sharing with you in the present moment through its feelings and condition.

Accept, honor and love what is showing up in the present moment within you.

Your body lives in the present moment. It doesn't live in the past or the future. When you live in the future in your heads, you either project what you want to happen and then doubt whether it is possible or you project your fears of what you don't want to happen. When you are in the future you create the emotional chemistry of anxiety. The "What if?" of life put us in danger and create a feeling of anxiety.

To stop your anxiety you have to address the emotions and thoughts that are out of alignment. Focus on and determine what it means to take care and love yourself and manage your stress response because it is killing you.

In last weeks blog I shared with you that stress contributes to many diseases like diabetes, obesity, adrenal burnout and cancer. Letting go of your anxiety will help your mind and body to relax and heal, allowing you to move forward in expanding your life.
