When facing tough challenges in life, people often tend to find an easy way out. That is not the right way to react to challenges, because the easy way out may not always be the best way. We need to learn to have more faith in ourselves. Human beings are capable of unbelievable things because of the capacity of our brains. We can learn and enhance our intelligence by looking at life's ups and downs with an educational point of view. We need to be persistent and not give up.

If we teach our children persistence, it will guide them when trying to succeed in school and beyond. Persistence is not something we are born with. We need to learn it. Don't worry, it is not hard. I will share with you three simple and practical steps that will help you teach your child persistence.

1. Keep a positive mind.

Negative thoughts drain your energy and keep you from becoming successful. The more you give in to your negative thoughts, the stronger they become and it is harder to snap out of it.

On the other hand, positive thoughts are fuel for your mind. When we are feeling hopeless, that means that our mind is out of fuel. To start our mind engine, we need to hook on a past success, no matter how insignificant or small it might appear. We need to summon it. Once we have it present, the spark appears. Positive thinking can produce positive attitude and positive attitude leads to positive results.

That is a proven fact!

You can help your children to keep a positive mind by encouraging them to surround themselves with positive people and by telling them you are proud of their hard work and achievements. In addition, inspired them by reading positive quotes. Buy them a book of quotes or make a notebook with famous quotes for them.

2. Keep trying.

You have to teach your children there will be a lot of failures in their life, but that is not a reason to give up. It is how one deals with those failures that will determine the outcome of their journey to success.
Failure is one of the biggest ways we learn and develop. It forces us to develop persistence. We always need to keep in mind that in every attempt, you inch yourself towards success. Don't give up until you get what you want. That's part of working on your persistence skills.

The main reason people don't get what they want is because they give up too soon. You need to teach your children not to give up on their dreams and goals. They just need to keep trying and learn something from every failure.

3. Keep a role model.

Many famous and successful people had to fail repeatedly to achieve success in life. For example, Thomas Edison failed many times in his life. He made 10,000 attempts before gaining success in the functional light bulb that we still enjoy to this day. What can we learn from his experience? Never give up!

Modeling behavior, thoughts, and attitudes on the process of successful people helps others succeed. So share stories of other famous people with your kids. Help them find their role model. That will inspire them whenever they fail at something and it will teach them to stay persistent.

A role model gives one comfort and support in times of hopelessness and difficulty. It will inspire your children by keeping in mind that human beings are strong if they want to be. They need to know our ability to overcome adversity is hidden in each one of us.

Successful people achieve success, because persistence is one of their main qualities. They don't let failure stop them. That is why they can be great role models. Make a list of famous people you admire, share it with your kids and let them chose someone they like.
