Reading The Pictures: What "Dictated" TIME's Person Of The Year


Tough twelve months, huh?

In this slightly-adjusted cover, we have the dilemma behind TIME's choice for "Person Of The Year." Because TIME usually picks a political figure, and last year they took a pass, they were really pressing this year end.

Still, when the top candidates are all fast-rising members of the Axis of Evil (or, a fast-rising "gang" of Democrats), what's a magazine to do?

...Just for posterity, here was TIME's actual choice, before they bailed and went with "You."
