Boko Haram's Green Screen

Boko Haram, the Nigerian militant group that abducted 276 students from a girls school, has sought to add to their notoriety through the release of videos.

The group's leader, Abubakar Shekau, appears to be enjoying his new-found fame, releasing a 27-minute video rant, in which he demanded the release of imprisoned Boko Haram militants in exchange for the school girls.

As with the rest of us, the digital age now allows militant groups and terrorist organizations to Tweet, Instagram, Facebook -- and to post videos of themselves, in higher technical quality. Many are capitalizing on social media.

Shekau, however, shot that video against a green back-drop. From a purely PR perspective, that may have been an error -- because it makes Abubakar Shekau's video prey to the perils of social media. Take a look.
