One Question That's Going to Rock Your Business

Have you ever stopped to wonder if you're truly doing the right things to help your business succeed? Or if there's another person you can delegate to who would be a better person to complete the task? I know I have, and it's something I really struggled with. That is, until I discovered one very simple question that quickly changed the way I did business:

"Why am I doing this?"

The truth is, most tasks we do as business owners are things we like to think we need to be doing but we could easily get someone else to do them.

If your business isn't where you'd like it to be, maybe you're not the right person for the job!

To recap, here are the steps you can take to make sure you have the right people doing the right jobs so that your business can really soar!

  1. For about two weeks, for every task you work on, ask yourself, "Why am I doing this?" Seriously, every task.
  2. To help remember to do this, set a recurring reminder on my Google Calendar to ask yourself this question every hour during the work day. This isn't meant to drive you crazy; I promise you'll get big results from this!
  3. Install Jing, a free screen capture tool, and every time you find yourself doing a task that you know you can teach someone else to do, record that task in Jing and you'll be able to send that task (along with the screen capture video tutorial) to the right team member so they can learn exactly how you get things done.
  4. Create a folder for all the screen capture videos so that anyone on your team can go through the folder and train themselves on the tasks.

My actionable for you this week is to install Jing and for every task you're doing ask, "Why am I doing this?" And be honest with yourself. You may think you are the best person to do a task but really your time could be spent on critical revenue generating tasks.
