Robert Maraj, father of rapper Nicki Minaj, died Saturday after after he was struck in a hit-and-run accident.
The 67-year-old worker's skull was fractured by a metal pipe after he asked the customer to back up, according to Long Island police.
The department said suggestions for using another standard for use of force "sends the wrong message."
