"Part of me feels like I need to go around to every single Indian person in this country and personally apologize," said the "Simpsons" cast member.
“I love Indian culture and Indian film and Indian music," the creator said. 🙄🙄🙄
“Yes, it’s a cartoon. Yes, it’s a pop culture super-successful show,” Chopra told "The View." “But that gives it more responsibility.”
Matt Groening's comments come as Hank Azaria, who voices Apu, said he'd be happy to "step aside" from the role.
"The idea that anyone young or old, past or present, being bullied based on Apu really makes me sad."
The star of "The Problem With Apu" documentary said the show's response was a slap "at what many of us consider progress."
