New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly responded to criticism of the NYPD's stop-and-frisk measures on January 10, 2013. Speaking at 92nd Street Y with President and Editor-in-Chief of Thomson Reuters Stephen J. Adler, Kelly addressed whether minorities are being treated differently:

"I wouldn't want to be stopped, I don't want my time taken away from me...but if you look at the numbers, the lives that have been saved I think is dramatic. And where is it happening? It's happening in minority communities."
