Has there ever been a woman who strikes fear in the heart of men like Hillary Clinton? I would find it really amusing, if it wasn't so irritating, that so many grown mean are out there flapping their arms, throwing around money, and say absolutely stupid things about age and ability.
This year I decided to retire. Not because I turned 70 and was demented. Not because I didn't like to work. Not because my judgment was in any way impaired. I decided to retire from life long public service so I could spend more time my granddaughters and other family members. Of course, there was the more than small promise to my husband that I would finally retire (for the fourth time) when he did.
However, I am not dead and so have managed to get into a vigorous exercise routine, catch up on my writing and painting, do some travel and work with candidates for the next election cycle.
Guess what, Hillary Clinton is younger than I am and probably, like me, needs to rest up from decades of public life. If she decides to run for President in 2016, she will make a great candidate. She will not be too old, Senator McConnell. And I will match her judgment on foreign affairs and public policy against the likes of Colorado Senator Ted Harvey any day.
I encourage these men to keep wasting their time on attacking worthy strong women with vision. There are a lot of them out there and they represent the present and the future of this country. Every time the guys open their mouths, they rile up more strong women. The old guys do a better job of sniping at women than performing the duties of a public servant for which they were elected.
Meanwhile, if Hillary Clinton decides not to run, she has a whole bench of qualified women lined up right behind her. Then what the old guys going to do?
