Most of us wake up every morning in America without a thought about war and peace.
And then there are people like my friend who experienced war as a child. She was 13 when America bombed her Japan, a horrific blast that continues to haunt her.
She walked 25 miles following the railroad to Nagoya so she could check on her grandparents, who made it safely to a shelter.
"I walked through it all, smoldering dead bodies, charcoaled ... I don't want anyone to experience that."
Today my friend continues to say a prayer every day that all of our leaders will make wise decisions when it comes to war and peace.
