My 5-year-old started kindergarten today, so I made a list of little wishes:

May your recess be long
May your lunch line be short
May your pizza be a rectangle
May your snack be square (cheez-its)
May you always make it to the bathroom on time
May you never need your "emergency" clothes
May you dodge the dodgeball
May you swing to the sky
May you never trip on the jump rope
May you ignore the mean girls
May you remember boys have cooties
May you always listen to the teacher
May you sit criss-cross-applesauce
May you learn your a,b,c's
May you learn your 1,2,3's
May you never get a "needs improvement"
May you read and read and read
May you bring cash for the book fair
May you get ice cream on Fridays
May you always remember your mom and dad
May you blaze your own trail like a shooting star
