Saving Democracy From Democracy (Or Something Like That)

Ok: what follows is a political non-sequitur:

1. Trump is authoritarian and bad for democracy.

2. The democracy goes ahead and elects Trump.

3. Therefore, the people can't be trusted with democracy, so we need a "People's Republic" or something like, that to protect the people from the people and to save us from authoritarianism and protect democracy.

Ok. Nobody is saying quite that. But I am not happy with either Trump... nor much of the critique.

Democracy works. Sometimes mistakes are made. We need to use the system to effect change. Using the system means respecting the system, even when we don't like the outcome.

If you say #NotMyPresident, you are saying #NotMyConstitution.
