The Illinois Republican Party meets Saturday in Springfield to choose a new chairman. The previous party chief, Pat Brady, quit after his statement supporting gay marriage set off an intra-party battle over the Illinois GOP's identity.

State Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka held the job from 2002-2005, and called it "the worst job in the world."

UPDATE: Jack Dorgan of Rosemont, a lobbyist and 12-year member of the Illinois Republican State Central Committee, was chosen Saturday as the new chairman.
