Soul Intuition: Silencing Negative Emotions and Shutting Down Stress

Stress also known as "the silent killer" starts internally, and if ignored will manifest in multiple ways externally. Intuition is the ability to find answers from within. However, Soul Intuition is in full effect when the body and spirit are balanced and flowing in harmony. It's vital that an individual makes the time and takes the necessary steps to search for the right solutions to manage emotions and mitigate stress.

Allison Larsen, Reflexology Practitioner, Author and CEO of Soul Intuition, believes that many physical diseases stem from negative emotions and negative emotions are usually triggered by negative thoughts in the human mind. If you can learn how to recognize negative thought patterns and replace them with positive ones, you can change your life, because thoughts create emotions and emotions can affect our physical well-being. It's all really very scientific. Let's take stress for example. Stress, by definition, is an emotion of a feeling with very real physical side effects. When you feel stressed out, cortisol, the stress hormone, is released into your body. What does cortisol do?

According to an article published by the Mayo Clinic, "When you encounter a perceived threat - a large dog barks at you during your morning walk, for instance- your hypothalamus, a tiny region at the base of your brain, sets off an alarm system in your body. Through a combination of nerve and hormonal signals, this system prompts your adrenal glands, located atop your kidneys, to release a surge of hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol. Adrenaline increases your heart rate, elevates your blood pressure and boosts energy supplies. Cortisol, the primary stress hormone, increases sugars (glucose) in the bloodstream, enhances your brain's use of glucose and increases the availability of substances that repair tissues. Cortisol also curbs functions that would be nonessential or detrimental in a fight or flight situation. It alters immune system responses and suppresses the digestive system, the reproductive system and growth processes. This complex natural alarm system also communicates with regions of your brain that control mood, motivation and fear." (Mayo Clinic, 2013)

Larsen adds that this can be good during a short term crisis, but if our bodies remain in this stressed state over a long period of time, the cortisol can significantly decrease our immune system, leaving us susceptible to all kinds of disease.

"The body's stress response system is usually self-limiting. Once a perceived threat has passed, hormone levels return to normal. As adrenaline and cortisol levels drop, your heart rate and blood pressure return to baseline levels, and other systems resume their regular activities. But when stressors are always present and you constantly feel under attack, which fight or flight reaction stays turned on. The long term activation of the stress response system - and the subsequent overexposure to cortisol and other stress hormones- can disrupt almost all your body's processes. This puts you at increased risk of numerous health problems, including: anxiety, depression, digestive problems, heart disease, sleep problems, weight gain, and memory and concentration impairment" (Mayo Clinic, 2013)

"Soul Intuition is about listening to your body and spirit so that you can become empowered to better your life on all levels." -Allison Larsen

Allison shares three (3) powerful keys to raise awareness and avoid stress:

EMOTION. All energy has to go somewhere. If we don't learn to recognize negative emotions and process them correctly, they will most likely manifest physically somewhere in our lives. Identify your negative thoughts and begin replacing them with positive ones. This is a good discipline to keep your emotions in check and keep stress levels controlled.

CONNECTION. Each layer of our being is connected. The spiritual influences the mental. What we choose to think about produces a pattern of emotions. Our emotions, if not controlled, can dictate how we respond to what's occurring in our lives. Once you recognize how these layers are connected, it elevates your awareness of how stress can attempt to creep in for a silent takeover.

DECISION. As you realize how much choice you actually do have in your own health and well-being, right choices will cause you to become happier, healthier and experience greater success. I have helped many people go from feeling like helpless victims stressed out by their circumstances, thoughts and emotions to empowered individuals who are creating the life that they want to live because they don't let negative thoughts and emotions influence their lives. You really do have a choice in the matter, but the choice is solely up to you.
