Someone recently told me that "authenticity" is the new marketing bullshit. There's truth to that -- if it's applied as the new sales pitch of the moment. There's always a bit of bullshit in sales pitches.
However, if we're really honest with ourselves, authenticity is everything. It's how we show up. In fact, our bullshit meter is tuned to how much authenticity is lacking -- in a person, a movie, a piece of content.
Over the last few years, I have found myself making a living by helping people (and companies) find their voice online. Ironically, I found myself losing mine in the process. The blues help me regain it.
Here's a story I told a TEDx audience about content, authenticity, and Junior Wells. Hoping you dig it. Hoping it gives you the courage to bring your full self to work, play, and your Facebook page.
