Producer Skrillex (real name: Sonny Moore) is in high-demand these days. Snagging the title of MTV's Electronic Dance Music Artist of the Year, headlining L.A.'s HARD Summer Festival and raking in $15 million is certainly not bestowed upon the weary.
Although Skrillex may have little time for most, he made sure to clear his schedule when Kanye West came calling. The producer recently revealed the two will be collaborating for Kanye's upcoming album.
“I did some music with Kanye and from what I know, it’s actually going to be the first song on his new album,” he told the Daily Beast.
Whether Skrillex will be featured on Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music Cruel Summer album, due out Sept. 4, or on his sixth studio album is unclear, Billboard notes.
In March, Skrillex told Rolling Stone that Kanye had flown him to Las Vegas in his private jet, watched his set and then invited him to his hotel room to cut some tracks.
"I mean, it's surreal when you step back and see everything going on," the 24-year-old told magazine. "But when I'm in the moment, I don't realize it."
Kanye might have caught Skrillex's professional attention but his girlfriend, British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding, wasn't so lucky.
Skrillex did not lend a hand on the "Lights" singer's sophomore album, Halcyon, because "geography" got in the way, according to Billboard. Skrillex has spent most of the year on the road.
"I've learned a lot from him and he's absolutely an incredible producer, one of the best producers I've ever come across," Goulding told Billboard.
The 25-year-old met the superstar producer last year.
"I definitely wanted him to work with this record, and… there's no doubt that Sonny and I will work together, when we're both a little bit less busy -- because at the moment, his career is crazy," she added.
The dynamic duo have worked together in the past, most notably on Skrillex's latest EP, Bangarang!. Goulding provided vocals on the popular song "Summit."
Regardless, it's unlikely any love was lost. Goulding and Skrillex's relationship is so strong because of their similar careers, Skrillex has insisted.
“She’s my girlfriend and my lover but also my best friend and if I’m working on something I’ll immediately send her a rough cut, and if she’s working on something she’ll send me a rough, so we’re constantly listening to each other’s shit back-and-forth,” he told the Daily Beast. “I couldn’t imagine not being with someone like Ellie that can share the same lifestyle as me.”
