Every once in a while you might want to take a minimalist approach to the color choices in your garden, such as focusing on the culmination of all colors: black. Not only does it absorb light, but black will also add a certain melodrama to your window ledge or garden bed. The garden industry can be kind of funny and not completely accurate in regards to having a color referenced in its name because when you actually see the plant in action it can be anything other than the color you expected it to be. The same can be said when you hear the word "black" as part of a plant name. But here are some of my favorite plants where the name really does speak the truth.
