Third Annual Hawaii Food and Wine Festival is Here

Hawaii has always been known for our great weather, pineapples, mai tai's, and the aloha spirit in our people. Over the past few years though, our regional cuisine has taken center stage in the world, and that is all due to the success of the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival, which is from Sept. 5-Sept. 8 on the Island of Oahu.

There must be a connection between delicious food preparation and the fact that our tropical weather produces delicious fruits and vegetables. Hawaii can truly use the words "farm to table" here because the farm is likely a mere 30 minute drive away. With over 50 internationally-renowned master chefs, culinary personalities, and wine and spirit producers, this event is a must-attend if you are on Oahu.

Here is a run-down of my recommended events in Honolulu:

Thursday, September 5
Under The MODERN Moon: Morimoto & Friends
Modern Honolulu Hotel
This is the best outdoor event of the festival. There are 15 chef stations that you can enjoy as you sip wine and cocktails poolside with a Hawaiian sunset behind you. Tickets are $200.

Friday, September 6
Master Chefs Gala Series: Around the World with Seven Chefs
Halekulani Hotel
This is a seven course dining experience with chefs from New York, Chicago, Sydney, San Francisco and Honolulu. A grand sit down party that requires men to wear jackets in one of Oahu's only five star hotels. Sorry, this one is already sold out.

September, September 7
Taste our Love for the Land
Hawaii Convention Center
18 world-renowned celebrity chefs, who are well known for promoting "farm to table" sustainable sourcing and cooking practices will be creating amazing dishes to share with attendees. Tickets are $200, VIP with Seating is $500.

If you are interested in attending, visit www.hawaiifoodandwinefestival.com to purchase tickets. If you cannot make it, I got more of the best of Honolulu food events to share with you here through HuffPost Hawaii. I hope you can find your flavor explosion in dining soon.
