I recently returned from South Africa. It was an amazing trip. It was my second time visiting South Africa as a keynote speaker. The first time, I was 29 years old. It was my goal to become an international speaker before the age of 30. I don't have an agent, manager, publicist, speakers bureau or anything of the sort. How could I dream to be a paid keynote speaker in another country?
Why me? Why not me?
I have a story to tell, and I just want to tell it. I know that the lessons I've learned in my few years on Earth could help someone else. I started to tell my story in the form of lessons learned and it spread like wildfire. I didn't know how or what I was doing; I just was doing! Then one day, these young men started following me and I followed them back. Their bio said "LN Multimedia" and I had no clue what that meant. One of the gentlemen wrote me and told me that he appreciated the wisdom that I shared online and he wanted to bring me to speak in South Africa. Of course I told him we should make it happen. I was willing to do it for free because it's my life's purpose. Instead of it being free, they found an investor and I was paid very, very well to go speak in South Africa. I remember being in the hotel room in South Africa just crying like a baby. I couldn't believe that I was a 29-year-old kid without a team but was being paid to speak on another continent.
But guess what? The two young gentlemen who made it happen were from the ghetto and were only 23 years old. Then we pulled it off again this year, without any sponsors or investors.
The lesson to me was: Do it anyway!
It doesn't matter what it looks like. It doesn't matter how long the road may seem. It doesn't matter how lonely the road may seem. If you have the ability to do it, then do it! Doing what comes natural eliminates the possibility of failure. It's when we do what we see someone else doing that causes us to fail. Do what's inside of you! Use your natural gifts and inspiration to custom design your life. You can't fail. You won't fail. It's what you were born to do; and your life has taken you through a crash-course that has trained you for a time such as this.
Do it anyway!
