The Victory Institute says the number of LGBTQ Black people and Hispanic people holding elected positions has doubled in the past three yearsaccording to a new report from the LGBTQ Victory Institute.
The former Olympian, who publicly identified as transgender in 2015, said she now sees herself politically as "economically conservative, socially progressive."
The "Grey's Anatomy" alum said it's been a "long and lonely road" coming to terms with her sexuality.

Appearing on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this week, the CNN anchor also reflected on his journey to fatherhood during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I want to be brave like you," Zachary Ro told the openly gay candidate at a rally in Denver.
"I was born in the wrong body, which means I am transgender," said the 25-year-old makeup artist in an emotional 17-minute post.
“I would not have been able to have done this without 'Schitt’s Creek.'"
A place that had once been so safe and happy became full of anxiety, sadness and fear.
Currently seen in "Treadstone," the actor said he felt "completely alone" growing up in suburban Texas.
