NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, made famous by the movie 'Hidden Figures', has died at the age of 101.
Her calculations helped the first American to orbit the Earth and inspired the movie “Hidden Figures."
The four Black women known as NASA's "hidden figures" during the Space Race will receive the highest civilian award for their contributions to space exploration.
The designation honors Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson and Dorothy Vaughan, the trailblazing black women depicted in the book and movie “Hidden Figures.”
