When you see your husband for the first time, he'll start crying. That will be the only time you ever see him cry. You, on the other hand, will cry many, many times over the next six years.
It was an honor to present at last week's Mission Transition summit in Washington, D.C., alongside President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush. I joined decision-makers from every sector and industry to discuss the transition process for post-9/11 veterans and military families. And I have to say, I am encouraged by what I saw.
Happy Military Spouse Month! Not many know that the month May focuses on the wife or husband standing by their soldier. After all, we are a very, very small percentage in this country. However, if you ever get to know us, you will soon agree that we make a great friendship that you will never forget nor replace for the rest of your life.
